Survey Predicts a More Flexible Workplace

A recent survey, by Office Angels suggests that standard office hours will disappear by 2036 and be replaced by night work, job shares and many other flexible alternatives to the traditional 9-5.

Global Recruiter recently reported on the results of the survey stating that two thirds of respondents believe that working hours will become more flexible, with 53% predicting that standard working hours will disappear altogether.  71% believe that homeworking will also become more common place due to advances in technology such as cloud computing, smart phones and video conferencing.  The survey also shows that job shares and multiple careers will be commonplace.

This shift in working patterns is being driven not only by advances in technology but also by our increasing need to balance work and home life and family commitments.

The CIPD is lobbying that flexible working must be made compulsory for businesses of all sizes by 2015 in the UK.  However here at Amoria Bond we are finding that, legal requirement or not, savvy employers are recognising that flexility will give them a head start when retaining & recruiting talent.

For those candidates whose skills are in short-supply they are seeing an opportunity, not only to charge a premium for their talent, but to also ensure that they have the work-life balance they want. They are increasingly choosing those organisations that are willing to be flexible and give them that above all others.
