5 Common CV Mistakes
It’s pretty self explanatory but your CV is your shop window for a perspective employer to find out about you as well as your qualifications and work experience to judge whether you are suitable for the role that they have. It therefore almost goes without saying that your CV should be as perfect as you can make it.
Here are our 5 key take aways of common mistakes that we see on CVs:
Being concise with your CV is key. Obviously you need to get across your experience and qualifications for the role to the prospective employer or recruitment consultant but keep it relevant and succinct. Keeping your CV to two pages is generally considered the right length, but we would recommend keeping it under the 4 page limit.
One way to help keep your CV relevant and succinct is to customise your CV for each of the roles that you apply for. This way you can highlight any particular skill or qualification that is particularly required for the role you’re applying for. As automation is becoming more prevalent in the likes of CV screening , it is important that you match your skills and experiences to the key words in the job role description. Make sure however to keep a ‘master’ CV on file which contains all of your experience and skills as a central reference.
Consider the design and layout of your CV and make sure that it is easy to read and that the key points stand out. This can be done through the use of bullet points, a consistently applied font through the document. Resist the urge to use different colour fonts!
Nothing kills a CV like a spelling mistake. It might seem pretty obvious but it is a common mistake on CVs that we see very often. Get someone to look over your CV and proof read it and then run a spell check on it.
So after you have crafted the perfect CV, tailored for the role and spelt checked please make sure that you’ve got all the basic information on it! Your CV should contain the following information: Your contact information, your achievements, your work and education history. The best CVs also include a profile summary of you.

I was first engaged by Amoria Bond regarding my availability for a role with a well-known Pharmaceutical Company in 2016. The Amoria Bond Agent was polite, informed and extremely knowledgeable and throughout the entire recruitment process I found his help and advice invaluable even to the point of going to the level of detail to encourage best interview practices.
Having been a contractor for over 8 years, and having used 5-6 Agencies to date, I would rate Amoria as the best I have come across. Their staff, as mentioned above are always helpful, and unlike other Agencies they actually stay in touch regularly to offer assistance and check on progress within the role. If there is ever any issues they are always willing to assist and the relationship leans more towards a virtual partnership than that of a traditional Agency/Worker one.
Since my successful appointment in the role I have remained with Amoria Bond and would have no doubts in recommending them as an Agency to work with to any of my colleagues/friends and I have no doubt that when my current contract expires that Amoria will go above and beyond to assist in securing my next Challenge/Contract. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism and overall helpful attitude. – Thank you Amoria Bond.
I have found the Amoria Bond recruiter to be a highly professional, proactive, personable and competent recruiter who has been extremely helpful to me in both a candidate capacity and also as a recruiter to source contractors for the projects I have managed. The recruiter is a meticulous recruiter that works hard to match the right candidate with the company & role.
I have always found Amoria Bond to be knowledgeable, empathetic, honest and highly engaged as a recruiter. The recruiter is dedicated to providing a great service to both his clients and candidates going above and beyond to build solid relationships. The recruiter would regularly come to visit all of the contractors on site to support and engage with them.
Working with and being represented by Amoria Bond was a real pleasure. I have no hesitation in recommending Amoria Bond to any Companies I work for or other consultants.
