How Amoria Group is celebrating International Women's Day 2026

Share

March 8th is International Women’s Day and, as we do every year across our Amoria Group offices, we’ll be recognising the day with a series of activites focused on education, celebration and fun!

This is an important day for us to recognise the progress made in equity and equality across industries as well as celebrating those who are actively making a difference, and recognising that there are still important changes to be made.

What we’re doing for International Women’s Day

Because International Women’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, and because it remains an important event in our company’s social calendar, we’re going to be hosting a whole week of events across our global offices.

In Manchester we’ll be focusing on wellbeing, bookending the week with wellness activities including a guest speaker talking about the importance of sleep on Monday, and a yoga & pilates session on Friday.

In Cologne we’ll be embracing this year’s theme of “Give to Gain” by hosting a bake sale with all proceeds being donated to Autonome Frauenhäuser Köln, a local organisation that runs two women’s shelters in the city. The money we raise will be used for a summer holiday camp for the women and children living in the shelter.

In Amsterdam the women in our offices will be gaining some inspiration from remarkable and leading women from the past and present, by taking a guided walking tour through the old city center – ending with a chocolate tasting.

And in Dallas we’re hosting an International Women’s Day themed trivia night, and all our team will be dressing in purple in the office, raising money for charity.

Throughout the week we’ll also be sharing materials from our ASCEND Programme, which was set up to attract, retain, promote and progress more women within Amoria Group and in the wider staffing and consulting industry. This includes our podcast series from last year on various topics important to women within the business, an article about the growth market of the women’s health medtech sector, and more.

ASCEND is a year-round initiative that hosts multiple events and promotional materials and we have much more coming up over the next few weeks, including a podcast centered around returning from maternity leave and getting back into the workplace, training and tips on eliminating unconscious bias in CVs, and our quarterly magazine celebrating the achievements of women across Amoria Group.

Why should a business celebrate International Women’s Day?

There a are actually several reasons! Our industry, and many of the STEM industries we specialise in, remains male-dominated even in 2026. Despite some positive shifts, women still make up only 35% of STEM graduates, and even less continue on to work in STEM jobs.

In technology, women represent just 26% of the workforce in data and artificial intelligence and 12% of workers in cloud computing; according to United Nations data from February 2026.

And LinkedIn’s International Women’s Day research this year shows that hiring of women into leadership positions has slowed since 2023 across 16 countries, including the UK.

The data remains clear that there is still a problem, and it’s not one that can be changed with flag waving or posting a few banners once a year. But acknowledgement is the first step to meaningful change, and building awareness is important to setting expectations and driving real, long-term initiatives.

Celebrating International Women’s Day, and doing so publicly as a business, helps to emphasise those initiatives, share the steps businesses can take, and acknowledge the progress that still needs to be made.

Our ASCEND program is designed to be this year-round, long-term initiative that’s supported by equity-focused workplace policies, our annual gender pay report and commitment to training our teams in bias-free recruitment practices. But we also make sure to celebrate  International Women’s Day with meaningful acts, not as the totality of our actions, but as an opportunity to acknowledge and inspire further action, in a way that is fun, collaborative and educational.

So happy International Women’s Day 2026 – and thank you to those who continue to drive positive change, whether through active campaigning or pushing through measures and policies that create a more equitable workplace.
