Project Engineer EIC (Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls)
Project Overview
For a large-scale international energy infrastructure project, we are looking for multiple EIC Engineers / Project Engineers (m/f/d) to support the planning and execution of a complex plant modernization and new-build program.
The project involves the replacement and reconstruction of a thermal waste treatment facility located near Strasbourg (France), close to the German border. The distance between the German engineering office and the project site is approximately 3?4 hours travel time.
You will work in an international setup with engineering teams based in Germany and France. The total project duration is approximately 4 years, with the most intensive engineering phase during the first year.
Important: Language Requirements (Mandatory)
Fluent English AND French are both mandatory for this assignment
You will be required to handle technical discussions, coordination, and documentation in French on a daily basis
German is a plus, but not required
Candidates without strong working proficiency in both English and French cannot be considered.
Your Responsibilities
Development of basic engineering concepts in EIC (Electrical, Instrumentation & Control)
Definition and coordination of technical interfaces across disciplines and suppliers
Technical clarification with suppliers during detailed engineering phase
Coordination with international teams and stakeholders
Support during testing and commissioning phases (later stages)
Integration of a large number of technical subsystems on-site

Your Profile
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or similar, or technician with relevant experience
Several years of experience in industrial plant or energy projects
Strong expertise in at least one EIC discipline (multiple preferred)
Experience in interface management and supplier coordination
Ability to work in an international project environment
Project Setup
Start: from June 1st, 2026 ideally, also open to candidates with start availability in July, August or September latest
Duration: Initial 12 months (long-term extension planned)
Workload: Full-time (40h/week)
Work model:
~3 days/week on-site in the Cologne area (Germany)
~2 days/week remote
Regular travel to France (project site near Strasbourg), especially in later phases
Team Structure
Multiple EIC engineers required (planned team size: up to 8)
Reporting to an experienced internal Electrical Project Manager
Close collaboration with a French engineering partner organization
Rate
60 to 90/hour (all-in) depending on experience

Long-term project with high technical complexity

Candidates with multi-disciplinary EIC knowledge are highly preferred
