We believe that every action has an impact, and we have an ethical responsibility to ensure that our impact as a company is positive. This belief is embedded throughout our culture and reflected in our Purpose, Vision, and Values. It’s embodied by Amoria Bond’s Charitable Trust and accountable through our CSR commitments. The Amoria Bond Charitable Trust is a registered charity set up by the company in 2009 to promote and facilitate a culture of giving back. Primarily funded by contributions from the company and our employees, the Trust has donated almost £250,000 to charitable causes worldwide.
In June 2022, 11 employees are travelling to Peru to volunteer at Project Peru's children's refuge and assist with ongoing building work funded by our Charitable Trust to extend the refuge so they can house, care for and support more children for longer. Peru has suffered the highest mortality rate from the COVID pandemic globally, leaving even more children in desperate need. The refuge currently doesn't have enough space, which means children as young as 14 years old have to leave with nowhere to live, no chance of staying in school and limited prospects in one of the world's poorest regions, Las Laderas - a desert shanty-town in the foothills of Lima.
This is our 5th volunteer trip to the refuge since 2010. Our volunteers are 100% self-funded, and most of the building work has been paid for by the Amoria Bond Group. But, we need to raise £10,500 to complete the project, which will also provide local jobs for builders, tradespeople, teachers and refuge staff, ensuring more children can complete their education and gain meaningful employment. All of which will contribute back to their local economy and community... a positive, sustainable cycle of impact on children's entire lives and the wider community.
Previously, we have built 101 houses - providing homes and security for more than 500 of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the community and two soup kitchens that feed hundreds of people every day. The facilities also provide a much needed safe space for vital social, health and educational facilities.
We have developed a friendship with the people of Las Laderas and with our long-term charity partners, Project Peru, and send 100s of care packages of essentials every Christmas.
Our CSR policy and commitments are reviewed annually to ensure we’re fulfilling our purpose of Progressing Lives Everywhere and that our actions are having a positive impact. Our current CSR commitments fall into four key impact areas outlined below.
Help the Community is a core commitment in our five-year G.R.O.W.T.H. strategy. Through our Charitable Trust, we’ve promised to deliver five charitable projects over five years. In 2022, we're funding a building project to extend Project Peru’s children’s refuge.
We offer all employees a day a year, fully paid, to volunteer at a charity of their choice. Employees have spent that time undertaking fundraising for Francis House, clearing up after the 2021 Cologne floods, helping at soup kitchens and homeless shelters, cleaning up local beaches and much, much more.
We are dedicated to providing wellbeing support to our employees, which is why we have trained Mental Health First Aiders within each of our offices. We also offer mindfulness mastery and resilience training, alongside local and company-wide initiatives such as expert-led webinars, team activities and a range of available resources, including our wellbeing playlist.
We plant 1 tree for every NPS survey completed by our clients and candidates, 10 trees per employee every year, 100 trees every time an employee is promoted internally in celebration of their progression, and 1000 trees every time we open an office in a new global location. So far we've planted over 42,500 trees!
